Lovely — I guess Tamiflu doesn’t work very well sometimes….

Hugh Hewitt linked to this story at Northshorejournal about a Thai man who died from avian flu.

Key points:

1) they didn’t know he had H5N1 until the postmortem. Test samples taken while he was hospitalized and dying were negative. That’ll make it tough to determine the extent of an outbreak.

2) They suspected he had avian flu, so he was treated with oseltamivir (Tamiflu). Not stated how long or what dose. But he only lasted about 20 days in the hospital (hospitalized July 21; died August 10.)
