Nosiree, this guy’s not a terrorist, not at all.

Jihad Watch notes that today’s “madman” driver — who killed at least one in Fremont and injured 15 more in San Francisco, apparently by deliberately running into and over random pedestrians —

a) is an young male Afghani named Omeed Aziz Popal, who recently returned from Afghanistan;

b) IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS A TERRORIST TO POLICE WHEN THEY APPREHENDED HIM.

See the end of this video from KTVU, one of the most respected of Bay Area news orgs (and no, it’s not the least bit conservative even though it’s a Fox affiliate).

Of course, you don’t see a hint of this in the lefty SF Chronicle’s account linked above, nor in the wire service reports. No, as Bookworm notes in her excellent post on the subject, the MSM line now is that this guy was “distraught.”

I don’t care if the guy’s distraught over leaving his bride-to-be in SW Asia. This was deliberate murder, not the work of a “madman.” The asshole didn’t just mow down victims on the sidewalks, he even STOPPED AT CROSSWALKS AND WAITED FOR PEOPLE TO WALK IN FRONT OF HIM BEFORE RUNNING THEM OVER.

Of course Dear Mayor Gavin Newsom was there with this bit of wisdom, soon to become the conventional wisdom:

“These are the things, these are so senseless. They’re utterly inexplicable. They’re impossible to rationalize.”

Yeah, right. Even when the reason’s staring you right in the face. I think a lot of Bay Area PC liberals just got a little dose of reality thrown into their world today, no matter what Dear Mayor says.

    Very interesting. I was wondering if the driver was a Jihadist, but every TV station carried news of that attack, and every one left out that obvious profile of the attacker. That was as of the late evening news at eleven.
