Voting for Da Judge

I don’t know how it is where you live, but here in King County and Washington, we elect our judges.

There are rules about campaign donations and the like which, if I remember correctly, are more strict than for other elected offices, and despite my reservations about the Supreme Court of Washington that I mentioned over the weekend, it seems a decent way of getting good people into necessary positions.

The races are all non-partisian, but you can, of course, find out how your available choices think by looking at who is supporting them with funding.

One of the silliest local things I’ve seen regarding local judicial elections is this from the very libreral (or is it ‘Progressive’) WashBlog.

Dennis Higgins writes about how his doorbell was rung by someone supporting a candidate who was getting funds from a ‘conservative’ organization of real estate developers and construction company owners.

If you want really decent comedy written as a serious left-wing rant, you should check it out. He wastes no time in claiming a conspiracy to *gasp* target only people who might possibly vote for the candidate *ungasp* and then delves into how the democracy that has placed the Democrat Party into power in all three branches of Washington State government is in jeopardy because there is “Big Money” involved.

Of course, he mentions no research into the campaign tactics of left-leaning judges looking to be elected, which means either that he believes there is no “Big Money” supporting them or that he is just be afraid of what he’ll find.

Don’t miss the comments section; full of more conspiracy and cries of democracy disappearing.

  1. You know, Dems really don’t want to go down that road, do they?

Seeing’s how GOP candidates collect a lot more money from the $50 and under crowd, and Dems collect a lot more maxed out donations?

We won’t even get into where MoveOn.org gets their money from.

  2. Kyle says:

This assmunch left a flyer at my door when I was at work on Friday.

Our other rep (Toby Nixon) is a good guy– not because he’s an R, but because of his voting record and general attitude.

Did I miss a chance to tell Springer to go do something to himself (with more constructive wording than that), or am I glad that I was avoided an opportunity to blow up pointlessly.
