I’m sure

That I have at least a couple of local libs who stop by here to see what I’m up to now and then. And I’m sure that they think I’m some sort of wackjob survivalist because I make plans for what to do in case hard times come to my area.

I certainly hope that they’re ignoring this news

U.S., Canada crack human smuggling ring, indict 14

U.S. and Canadian officials announced Wednesday that they have broken up a human-smuggling ring that charged up to $35,000 per person to illegally funnel dozens of Pakistani and Indian nationals from British Columbia into Washington state.

During a news conference near the Peace Arch at the border crossing in Blaine, the officials said 14 men from Washington state and Canada have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Seattle for their alleged involvement in the vast smuggling network. Twelve of the 14 men are in custody and the two others are still being sought, officials said.

If they pay too much attention to this story, it might just make them have to make plans as well.

Speaking of making plans, I was going to post this yesterday, but I lost one of the links I wanted. I still haven’t found it, but I’m gonna post it anyway.

As I mentioned on Tuesday, Grimm only has a 250 mile range right now because of his pitiful 19 gallon fuel tank. But it seems that someone took notice of folks like myself who complained about that and built a 38 gallon replacement tank.

500 miles. That’ll almost get me to Missoula

Oh, and what is this? I can buy a second tank from them and put it in myself, adding almost 300 miles to my travel range?

Sign me up.

There is another company that makes a hideaway tank that fits on the passenger side of the bed, in front of the rear wheel (that is the link I lost). It’ll add another 20 gallons. Good golly, I might be able to make it from Seattle to Billings.

Get one of the 100 MPG carbs that have been secretely stored away since the seventies.
Last I heard, they are stored in the same section of the government warehouse that holds Jane Fonda’s patriotism, Ted Kennedy’s soul and The Global Warmer® device.

  2. I’ve got a ’72 F150 with aux tank I’m parting out. You might be able to save some money and use it……

What you didn’t mention in your piece about the smuggling network is that they were almost all Pakistanis and N. Indians, and that there may have been dozens of them.

Hmmm….Paki-waki land DOES produce a few terrorists on a regular basis, is probably sheltering Bin Laden as we speak, and the far northern provinces of India have their share of whacked-out Islamists also. The Indian Army is constantly at war with them up there, occasionally fighting in battalion-size engagements.

Of course, NORML and the other Soros-funded Ganja-freak organizations would go nutz, but maybe we should practice our fence building first on the WA-CAN border.

The reasons a fence might be necessary include the fact that the provincial government of British Columbia is left of Socialist, and won’t cooperate with the more conservative Federal Government when it comes to stopping such border invasions. Also, Canada is full of Paki-wakis and other middle-eastern “refugees”, and in fact, under the Paul Martin government, started to surrender the nation to Sharia Law, allowing these Islamists to have a law code all their own.

Actually, we have a far greater chance of having terrorists come in from Canada than from Mexico, just because Middle Easterners stick out like sore thumbs in Mexico, but there are already so many of them in Canada that any terrorists can and do move around with impunity.

    Remember the Lackawanna cell?

The only problem, Rimfire, is that those four items are being guarded by the aliens who shot JFK.

On the subject of your truck, I would do it differently.

Rather than put in the side-saddle tanks, WHICH ARE A HUGE FIRE HAZARD IF THE VEHICLE IS STRUCK FROM THE SIDE, I would put tie-downs in the bed, buy polyprope boat tanks and install them in the bed, forward of the wheel wells but not above them. Appropriate outboard engine type connections can be made, and the tanks are easy-in, easy-out. The camper will still slide in. The boat tanks are cheaper by a factor of at least two. They come in all sizes and shapes, and it’s not too expensive to have them made to your specification.

I seem to recall seeing these tanks, purpose-made and conformal to the space, on some camper-carrying pickups. If you didn’t want the conformal ones, you could use boat tanks and lose just a little capacity.

you might want to look at a toolbox/fuel cell combo, some of the RV stores on Old 99 just south of Federal way have them, and it is nice to hide a 50 gallon fule cell in plane site, talk about added range 😀

Sorry, AK, but you’re wrong. Elvis shot JFK. I have a T-shirt that says so!

  9. David says:

Oh yeah, if you have a bedliner watch out for polypro fuel containers. Nasty static-induced spark problems can arise. See, for example, http://www.pei.org/frd/gascan.htm
