I love the smell of burnt gunpowder in the afternoon

Spent the afternoon at Champion Arms Indoor Pistol Center yesterday with Rivrdog, reader Pete from Kitsap and my co-worker, George. We put many any holes in many sheets of paper, and I got to learn more about my Ruger MKII-10.

I also learned that I need to remember to never stay away from the range for that long ever again. Quite frankly, I sucked horse apples. For the majority of the afternoon I spent my trigger time pulling just about everything to the right because of too much finger on the trigger, and what I didn’t pull to the right I pushed to the left. I finally got some half-ass decent groups during the last hour or so, but more rangetime next weekend is already scheduled: one day for pistol and one day for rifle (hopefully).

It was good to see Rivrdog again, even though the guy was shooting much beter than myself (you can see his range report here), and finally getting to meet Pete was excellent (you’d better believe that he shot better than I did too) and I’d like to thank them both for making the trip.

George is a good guy who has worked at our employer for just three fewer months than I’ve been alive and him getting to the range made his week, for though he has owned firearms all of his life, he doesn’t get a whole lot of practice with them. I’ve given the guy an open invite any weekend he wants to go.

Now here is the thing about the no pics: I’m a retard. I even made a special trip to the store for batteries for the damn camera, but I never took it out of the range box. I know, 100 lashes with a wet noodle for the Kid. I may be retarded, but I can count to potato better than you, so neener. I promise pics from next weekend.

If you went to the range yesterday or are getting back from there today, leave your range report in the comments. If you haven’t gone this weekend, you do plan on going during the next one, right?

Like Lt. General Lewis B. ‘Chesty’ Puller said “You don’t hurt ’em if you don’t hit ’em”
