The Soundboard: Pushing 40 Hertz ’till it hurts

I’ve spent this week packing my stuff in preparation to move and am trying to save the music until last. It’s easy to box, so long as I have enough boxes, so I should be able to hold out until this time next week.

The sad part of it is that I keep listening to the mix disc I pulled last week’s selection from and have decided that we’ll be staying with the Drum & Bass genre this week.

So today I give you,

Liquification (Stakka Remix) – Pieter K

In the comments of last week’s post, RNS reader Geoff E. left the URL of another on-line electronica radio broadcaster, Hard House UK Recordings. Click the link and then your player and away you go. I’m not much into Hard House tunage as I tire of the ‘Giddyup’ beats (you’ll hear what I’m talking about if you linsten to it) pretty quickly, although the stuff they had playing wasn’t bad.

Another good place for your standard house music on the web, as well as live mix DJ’s during the afternoons (PST), some Industrial and electro-Goth on the weekends, 80’s New Wave remixes Thursday morning and just a damn fine all-around electronica station is the local to me C89.5 FM Worldwide. The station broadcasts out of Nathan Hale High School in Seattle and has students giving the top of the hour stuff. But the cool part is that they are funded almost completely by donations to their quarterly pledge drives, meaning the student learn about market forces, etc and have a good idea about how businesses work and get to play cool music at the same time. They get my money and that is saying something.

I’ll try to keep my limited discs of house out for next week and we’ll see what I come up with. See you then.
