Finally

At last, I am able to report the results of the rifle portion of the E-Postal Match for August, 2005.

As you may recall, one week after I posted the task, my email went kablooie (I’ve been told that ‘kablooie’ actually is a part of technical computer verbage) and I know I lost some folks results. I have scraped as much of it that I can find together and notified those for whom I had email addys that they might have been lost so that I can finally report on the results today.

And our winner is,

Joe Huffman, founder and host of the annual Boomershoot and blogger at The View From North Central Idaho blog AND the guy who did all the work in redesigning of RNS (for a damn good price, I might add).

Joe shot all 15 of the balls on the Killiards target from 100 yards and was the only one to do so. He did it with his .300 Win Mag (which I believe is a Rem 700) using Black Hills 190gr Ammunition.

He also wins the Big Brass Ones Award for pulling off his last six shots in the dark with only the headlights of his vehicle to see by.

You can see his target here.

I would like to congratulate Joe on his win and will be sending him his certificate.

Some other targets of special note: Mr Completely also shot 15 for 15 balls (including 11 center hits) at a distance of 50 yards from the bench with his scoped Hi-Standard 22 pistol. And the guy wonders why I respect his pistol skills.

The remainder of the scores are below the fold. I would like to thank everyone who participated in August’s rifle e-Postal Match and hope that they stop by next Monday for the target and task for September.

In light of events in New Orleans last week, I have selected a target and task that would apply to said situation.

Javier – .223 Rem 9
Javier – .257 Wthby Mag 6
James – .308 Win 10
David – .257 Wthby Mag 14
David – .308 Win 6
Merle – 22LR – 50yds 8
Merle – 44 Mag – 50yds 9
Azreel – 22WMR Pistol 50ft 6
Ryan Bowers – 22LR – 100yds 12

That’s a fun target to shoot! Thanks for putting it on. Can’t wait until the next one….

Yes. It is a 700 Remington action. But highly customized. See the rifle and setup here:

Also, I was not “the only one” to hit all 15 balls at 100 yards. The Analog Kid also did it: http://www.softgreenglow.com/mt/archives/2005/08/e_postal_match.html
