e_Postal Match for August 8th, 2005

And so here we are at the second of the rifle e-Postal Matches. I hope everyone enjoyed the last one and that this one will be even more enjoyable.

Here is the reason it is titled “Killiards

That is also my attempt from 100yds out.

Looks pretty easy, huh? Well, I can definitely say that your eyes are probably deceiving you.

Here are the rules for this match:

There is no time limit (Take your time, you’ll need it).

Here is the link to the target.

The target is made to be printed out onto 8 1/2 X 11 inch paper. To know that you printed the target out properly, measure the distance between the inside edges of the outside ring of each billiard ball. The measurement should be 1 1/2 inches. Black and white copies are fine, though they will probably be harder to see. If you are having trouble printing targets, let me know and we’ll figure something out (snail mail may be possible).

Most bench resting devices are allowed; Bags, mechanical rests, etc. are OK. Gun vices however are not. We are testing the accuracy of you and your rifle, not just that of your rifle. If you have any questions, just let me know what you are using and I’ll give it the thumbs up/thumbs down.

Ten points per ball for a total possible score of 150 points.

One hit per billiard ball. Two hits on any ball counts as a miss.

Only 15 holes are allowed in any one target.

100 yards is the minimum distance for centerfire rifle calibers. If you can hit this at 200, 300, 400 yards or further, more power to you. You’ll get your own award for distance.

50 yards is the minimum distance for pistol caliber carbines and rimfire rifles and carbines.

You’ll probably want some sort of magnifying optics for this one, and there are no power restrictions. If you want to try it with open sights, be my guest. You’ll get your own award for that.

You can enter as many different rifles as you would like but only one target per rifle.

You may practice as much as you like on any target you like but you may only have at this target once per rifle. The only exception to this rule is that you may shoot a rifle at the minimum distance, and if you ace the target, you may place another target at the next distance available to you and shoot that rifle again.

We’re on the honor system here, ladies and gentlemen, so I trust everyone to email me their scores. However, if there are two shooters with the same score at a given distance the winner will be determined by a measurement of how close to center each hit was, with me doing the measuring. In this case, I will need pictures of the targets e-mailed to me.

E-mail all scores to me at analogkid – at – softgreenglow – dot – com.

The last day to send me your targets is Monday, August 22nd.

I check my email often and I will reply to your email you as soon as I get it. If you send me something and I don’t respond within 12 hours, send me a new email without any attachments in case there is a blockage problem somewhere in the ether.

And most important of all, be safe and have fun, folks
