At the Range

By the time you read this, I’ll probably be at the range helping my co-worker learn how to put holes in paper (as was mentioned yesterday) and narrow down her choices for a CCW pistol.

I’ve got some links you might be interested in though,

First up, the 23rd Carnival of Cordite is up at the ‘But That’s Just My Opinion’ blog. As usual, it’s a page-turner (or page-scroller, since we’re the blogosphere).

After you get done there, take a stroll on over to the Fun Turns to Tragedy blog where Kirk rips the proposed “Police Law Enforcement Armor Act a new ass.

If the name of the bill sounds innocuous to you, then I should tell you that it was proposed by Senators Lautenberg, Corzine, Schumer, and Clinton.

And when you’re done with that one, read what happens when the Democrat Party of Maryland gives him a ringy-dingy to ask for money.

Normally, when the Dems say that someone is underpaid, it is just a buzzword for someone with few or no job skills. In this case, I truly think that the girl who called Kirk was underpaid. But only because her employers didn’t bother to train her well enough to prepare her for the tongue-lashing she got when she said “The democrats support gun control?

You might also find this story on the situation in Thailand that I found at the FreeWillBlog interesting,

The Islamic militants are trying to do some ethnic, and religious, cleansing in the Moslem south. The three southern provinces have a population of some 1.8 million, and only 360,000 of those are Buddhists (the religion of the majority of Thais, who are ethnically different from the Moslems, who are Malays). The terror campaign is having some success, as some ten percent of the southern Buddhists have left the south in the past six months. But many of the remaining Buddhists are arming and preparing to defend themselves, and stay in the south.

Sounds like those Buddhists have listened to their Dalai Lama much better than their western ‘peace at all costs’ counterparts,

“If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, May 14th 2001.

And lastly, Countertop finds yet another excellent point from Victor Davis Hansen,

Meanwhile an odd thing happened. It turns out that the jihadists were cowards and bullies, and thus selective in their targets of hatred. A billion Chinese were left alone by radical Islam — even though the Chinese were secularists and mostly godless, as well as ruthless to their own Uighur Muslim minorities. Had bin Laden issued a fatwa against Beijing and slammed an airliner into a skyscraper in Shanghai, there is no telling what a nuclear China might have done.

True, there is no telling what China may have done, but I think I could put forward a good guess.

I think anyone in the right mind could too.

Now go read.
