They love the environment so much

They are willing to try and kill people.

You’ve heard about ELF and ALF. You’ve probably also heard about the enviro-fascists putting 10 inch spikes into trees so that the loggers chainsaw kicks back and injures them.

But now they have a new trick

Fishing guide Phil Hawkins rows fishermen down the Sandy River for a chance to catch a steelhead.

He says this winter the unusually low water has meant that he’s kept a sharper eye on frothy rapids, exposed rocks and something new.

“I have to worry about packing the right rods, the right flies, the right equipment and food – but never, ever would I dream that I’d have to worry about spikes or nails in the river that would tear my boat up,” says Hawkins.

Nails or spikes – several inches long – have been drilled or pounded into the river’s rocks. In recent weeks, the nails have ripped open two rafts, including Josh Linn’s 16-foot pontoon raft.

Josh pointed to the 30-inch tear: “That’s where the nail went in all the way. It’s a huge gash and it was a scary moment.”

Linn was floating through a dangerous rapid when the nail tore up his boat. But he was lucky and made it to shore where he was able to patch and repair his raft.

So far, no one has been injured beyond any more than getting beaten up in a set of rather nasty rapids and losing their gear.

Thankfully.

But summer is approaching. How many kids are going to be rafting or tubing down these rivers in the coming months? If you said hundreds, you’d be wrong. Think thousands.

I can guarantee you that if this guy has found a couple of these spiked rocks, there are a hundred more out there. These cowardly environmentalists passive-aggressive behavior is going to kill someone this summer.

I just hope that it becomes open season on them shortly afterwards.

Wow! What a bunch of assholes! As a dirtbike rider I’ve been made aware of how these stinking bastards operate, but the Rivers? In Nor.Calif there’s a lot of religiously “Eco-rafters” who presume the river (creek, pond, puddle) to be theirs and theirs alone, and are trying to shut-down riding areas saying it’s a habitat and run-off issue – while the activity is really a ploy to increase their staging and landing grounds so they can run more tours. I’m going to post this to rec.motorcycles.dirt to let them know the latest crap – we often have to ford creeks out in the back-country, and it could easily affect a rider.
