EU VP says Europe economy is worse
In a 15-minute speech to foreign ambassadors, financial experts and business men and women, newly elected European Parliament Vice President Alejo Vidal-Quadras Roca tried to answer the question on the minds of 450 million European Union citizens: “Why is the European economy not growing?”
Speaking in plain language, Roca, who spoke Thursday at the University Club in Washington, D.C., painted a bleak picture of the region’s economy, quoting 19 statistical data figures that all said the same thing: Europe lacks growth.
Compared to other countries like the United States and Japan it is a fact that Europe’s productivity and growth rate has fallen well behind its main partners.
In 2004, the average growth of the euro area was only 2.2 percent, lagging behind economies like the United States, which grew by 4 percent and Japan, which grew by 4.4 percent.
In terms of gross domestic product in 2004, the European Union had a 1 percent GDP growth rate, unlike the United States, which had a 3 percent growth rate.
“The United States is performing better than the European Union, that is something that Europeans should reflect upon,” he said.
“Why does the European economy not work? Why does the European economy not grow? Why are there not enough jobs?” asked Roca. “We torture ourselves with these questions.”

I clearly remember, during the period from Jan 04 to Nov 04, hearing more than a dozen different liberal/progressive radio shows and more than a dozen different blogs talking about how America was going to become a third world country soon because of GWB’s economic policies and the EU was going to kick our asses.

That group of countries has been fighting each other for a millennium. What the hell, do they think that some piece of paper is going to do for them? Especially one that the vast majority have of them have never read, and those that have read it couldn�t tell the idiot next to them what it says or means.
They do not believe that the jihadiism in their own countries is a problem because they�re so self-involved and self-enamored with themselves that they can�t see three feet in front of their damn noses.
In the next 20 years, when Europe has to call on America for help to get them out ANOTHER stupid conflict (a conflict that the American left will demand we get into, by the way) we should just send a few tactical nukes over and wipe the slate clean, start over again and be done with it.
