Oh Hell NO!

This is truly pissing me off,

Austrians sold 800 sniper rifles to Iran

Iran has contracted to buy hundreds of high-powered rifles from an Austrian firm, the company’s owner said Wednesday. The sale drew an indirect rebuke from the United States, but Austrian government ministries said no laws were broken.

Wolfgang Fuerlinger, head of Steyr Mannlicher GmbH, confirmed the deal between his company and Iranian authorities and said U.S. Embassy officials had expressed concerns the arms could make their way to Iraq for use against American troops.

Not that I can afford their equipment, but I would never buy another S-M again.

Spread the word. Steyr Mannlicher’s American market sales need to drop to zero as of right now!

In the words of Kos “Screw Them!”

In other news, the IRS took pity upon me and left me with a decent portion of my paycheck. Therefor, I will be stopping by the smith’s this afternoon to pick up my Boomershoot rifle. In about 90 minutes I’ll be calling him to confirm it’s completion and making my appointment.

Provided it is complete, expect pics to follow this weekend.

The first order is in for accessories and ammunition, expect trigger-time after action reports in a couple weeks.

I bet we have the serial numbers and any other identifying data. If even one of those rifles shows up in Iraq we have justification to kill off some mullas and let all the dissedents run the country. Iran is already got two strikes out in public. They are aquiring nuclear weapons, and they are supporting hezbolla openly. Hezbolla is one of the groups not playing nice with the ceasefire between Israel and the PA.
It won’t take to much more to tip the spear.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

800 sinper rifles. And I guess that means the Irinians will use Austrian sniper rifles to waste our Abrams and our Apaches, not the American supplied rocket launchers. Man, what if they supply N. Korea some sniper rifles now? They have nukes, but sniper rifles on top of that? Man, would we be in trouble.

  3. AnalogKid says:

Go ahead and laugh, Jason. When these rifles make their way to Iraq, and they will, if we lose even one soldier to someone wielding one of these, Ill want Austria nuked.

If you had even half a clue as to the damage in immediate troop moral a sniper can have, youd probably shit your pants, put your tail between your legs and slink away after your ignorant comment.

Would you and yours (from the nature of your comment I can reasonably deduce that your are on the left) still call the Austrians an ally of the US?

  4. Collin Baber says:

Samuel Colt sold weapons to both sides in the Civil War. The Iranians are buying those rifles in a free world market to add to their national defense.

Don’t worry, the rifles won’t be used on us unless we have the gall to invade them.

  5. AnalogKid says:

Maybe you missed the report, Collin, but weapons, money and men from Iran are already being brought into Iraq.

You might not have seen my comment as it looks like we posted around the same time, but what will you say when/if we can confirm that one or more of these rifles made their way to Iraq and were being used against our soldiers?

Also, your line the rifles wont be used on us unless we have the gall to invade them is more than a bit nave.

Would you support the Iranians using these rifles against the large number of college students who are currently fighting against the mullahs?

As for us invading them, we know that they have missiles that can reach the whole of Iraq. If they get an itchy trigger finger and fire one of those babies off, would you support us going into Iran?

Would you then be unhappy at Austria.

Also, I take it that you have heard of night vision equipment, would you be surprised if a set of night vision optics ends up on one of these rifles?

I read this book years ago called “Marine Sniper” and was blown away at how the VN-era sniper described his stalking and killing.

I’m just a simple commerce major who sees how demand and supply create a tight nexus. After reading your note, my blood is running cold with a new thought. There is no doubt in my mind that if the weapons are destined for Iraq then whoever is to be on the receiving end of them will be in deep, deep trouble.

Iran is 4 times the size of Iraq, mountainous as hell and has millions upon millions of potential martyrs. I wouldn’t advise anyone try to invade it!

Well, Jason’s IP traces to RIPE (the European equivalent of ARIN), and the server traces to Nuernberg, Germany. So Jason may even be i Austria for all we know – regardless, I’m sure he doesn’t care how many A,ericans get killed by sniper rifles that make their way into Iraq.

  8. Nukevet says:

And as for Collin – just follow the link to his 2-post blog, and you’ll have a pretty good idea where he/she’s coming from.

And Marine Sniper tells the story of Carlos Hathcock – a legend in the sniping ranks, and a good example of what those 800 rifles can do in the right hands.

  9. Nukevet says:

Hahahaha! It gets even better. After noting Collins blog and his hysterical tirade about Bush and Kim, I decided to traceroute him as well. He pings to….you guessed it, Korea. Funny how people who don’t even live here feel fine in lecturing us on what we should and should not be upset about, eh? And use the “us” word. Now sure, they could be expats – but they could also just be clueless foreign assholes.
