A Sad Note

In case you weren’t online yesterday and/or haven’t loggin onto Kim du Toit’s blog, Sgt. Adam Plumondore, the ‘Adam’ of the “Walter & Adam Fund” was killed recently in Mosul after an IED exploded near the vehicle he was riding in.

You can go here, here, and here for updated posts at Kim’s.

You can go here and read Rivrdog’s excellent eulogy for Sgt. Plumodore.

I also suggest you go here to see photos of Sgt. Plumondore’s unit during their time in Mosul Iraq.

I must say, I never met the man. But I will be meeting a number of his friends and associates very soon. Sgt. Plumodore was an assistant instructor at Boomershoot 2004 (along with Sgt. Gaya who can also be seen in the above unit photo link) and made an impression, it seems, on nearly everyone in attendance.

You can see more photos by Joe Huffman, organizer of the Boomershoot, of Sgt. Plumondore at Boomershoot 2004 here on Joe’s blog.

I seriously doubt that my work schedule will allow me to make it to the services being held for Sgt. Plumondore at Ft. Lewis. I understand that Rivrdog will be acquiring a wreath to be presented during the services. I do not know if they are taking contributions for the wreath but, if you are interested in doing so, you should contact Kim du Toit and/or Rivrdog if you wish to contribute to this or to the “Walter & Adam Fund”.

  1. Thank you for your kind references, sir.

If I may say so, your posting of the Iraq War memorial statue photo is VERY appropriate.

Please accept the fact that I will take NO contributions towards the wreath. That will be one of my personal expressions to pay for it myself, but I will have the ribbon marked as Kim wanted, to indicate that it’s a memorial from the Nation of Riflemen.

Those readers who want to contribute something may either contribute to the Walter-Adam Fund through Kim’s site, or contact the Brigade Sergeant-Major, First Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, Ft. Lewis, WA. I’m sure the Sergeant-Major will also have an appropriate place to put your contribution.

You see, the Stryker Brigade is on the point over there, and sadly, Sgt. Adam Plumondore wasn’t the first and won’t be the last to make the Supreme Sacrifice.
