What a difference 40 years makes

Apparently, 1974 saw Time magazine labeling the “Polar Vortex” as being caused by “Global Cooling”

Of course, they would prefer no one know this.

Sorry. I thought I heard someone say “Spiderman thread”.

Well, of course it does

It’s science.

New Study Demolishes Almost Every Gun Control Myth

A study published in the latest issue of the academic journal Applied Economics Letters took on many of the claims made regularly by advocates of stricter gun laws. The study determined that nearly every claim made in support of stronger restrictions on gun ownership is not supported by an exhaustive analysis of crime statistics.

The study, “An examination of the effects of concealed weapons laws and assault weapons bans on state-level murder rates,” conducted by Quinnipiac University economist Mark Gius, examined nearly 30 years of statistics and concluded that stricter gun laws do not result in a reduction in gun violence. In fact, Gius found the opposite – that a proliferation of concealed carry permits can actually reduce incidents of gun crime.

With their denial of this bout of science, it makes it all the easier to see their denial of other points such as glowball warmening and basic human economics.

First they say

That they want younger people to sign up for ObamaCare.

They need them to so as to offset the older folks.

But they forgot to think about how to add on the really young.

There’s another quirk in the Obama administration’s new health insurance system: It lacks a way for consumers to quickly and easily update their coverage for the birth of a baby and other common life changes.

With regular private insurance, parents just notify the health plan. Insurers will still cover new babies, the administration says, but parents will also have to contact the government at some point later on.

Right now the HealthCare.gov website can’t handle such updates.

To clarify, Obama will point out that “0 Years Old” is not an actual “age” and that while he said that children can stay on their parent’s insurance plan though age 26, what we should have understood that he meant ages 1 through 26. And that it is our fault for the misunderstanding.

Because they’re swimming in money

Actually, they’re not. But that means nothing to Marxists.

Only the first of what I am sure will be dozens of stupid things the new Mayor of Seattle will edict during this term.

Dear NSA

In this new year, if you aren’t feeling loved & appreciated, allow me a recommendation (because I know you are reading this). Use your great & powerful data collection skills to find & destroy spammers & the authors & distributors of Mal-Ware.

If you can make it so I never have to clean off the likes of delta-search from another machine again, you can read all the gooey little emails between my wife & I that you want.

(OK, not really, no way any of you nosy busy-bodies can be trusted with any of that information, I’m just pissed off & ranting).

What do these two things have in common?

First, in Minneapolis:

Multiple Victims Hospitalized After Powerful Explosion Rips Through Minnesota Building

More than a dozen people are hospitalized following a massive building explosion in Minnesota on Wednesday morning.

The blast was reported at about 8:15 a.m. local time at 514 Cedar Avenue South in Minneapolis. According to KARE 11, the explosion and ensuing fire is causing extensive damage to the three-story building.

Robert Ball, of Hennepin County EMS, told KARE that victims were injured by burns and, in some cases, trauma sustained while falling or jumping from windows.

Go ahead and read the whole article. What is left out, for “reasons”, is that the apartment is in a section of town known as “Little Mogadishu” and is next door to a mosque.

Meanwhile, in Prague, CZ:

Palestinian Ambassador To The Czech Republic Dies After Apartment Explosion

Police say an explosion in Prague has killed the Palestinian ambassador in the Czech Republic.

Ambassador Jamel al-Jamal was in his apartment with his family at the time of the explosion on Wednesday, according to Palestinian Embassy spokesman Nabil El-Fahel. Al-Jamal was seriously injured and rushed to a hospital, where he died, according to police spokeswoman Andrea Zoulova.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said the blast occurred when the 56-year-old diplomat was moving an old office safe box. It was not immediately clear how the explosives got there, and the ministry said the blast was being investigated.

Who has diplomatic immunity in case the explosives he had stashed were ever found? The dead guy. Tis a pity that the other Eurozone countries recognize the “palestinian state”. If I were them I’d be checking out the safes of pali ambassadors in my country.

This is what happens

When I forget to blog about stuff.

So the NSSF hired a polling company to disprove the Quinnipiac poll from last year that purported to tell the nation that “90% of people support background checks at gun shows” or some other nonsense.

Now, I know that the headline gets the attention and that trying to convince someone that the headline is wrong is a waste of time and breath. However, this is all that needs to be said about the Quinnipiac poll

mvc5u10yX81slyeero1

Because, apparently, the MidWest and West, and the people who hold opinions there, do not exist to Quinnipiac and those who paid for the poll.
