The Goose-Gander Wars Continue

I’ve noticed, as probably you have as well, that when today’s Dem candidates raise loads of money, the leftosphere has no problem with money in politics.

Obama Raises $55 Million in February

Oliver Willis (Occupation: Toole) says that most of the cash is in small donations from “Normal People”. Wow, not a single abnormal bastard in the bunch, huh Ollie?

That is what worries me.

Domestic Terrorism Update: 03/07/08

Just a couple days after ELF burns down three homes and severely damages a fourth, Briana Waters was declared an accomplice to arson by a jury of her peers for the burning down of a University of Washington Forestry Research Facility. She stands to spend the next 5-40 years in prison for her acts on the two counts the jury members were able to agree on. The other three charges the jury deadlocked on and the prosecutors are looking to whether to retry her on those charges.

I sincerely hope they decide to use my tax dollars to do so. I am just a bit worried, however, that the ELF fires from earlier in the week, and their exposure via news stories across the nation, may be used as a reason for appeal.

Other news from yesterday included the bombing of the recruiting station in Times Square yesterday, which we have now learned was preceded by the mailing of a manifesto to six Democrat members of the US House of Representatives. I would seriously check my political positions if domestic terrorists think I agree with them enough to want mail from them.

After those stories, I decided to put on my e-wetsuit and visit the local Indymedia sites to check their reactions. It has been many months since I’ve been there, but it is still the same old swamp.
It is truly sad when I can honestly say that the dKos has more tin-foil hatters than the IMD sites. IMD had not one poster or even a commenter who thought the NYC bombing was a “Right Wing/Rovian Plot”. Kos cannot say the same.

But Indymeida can say that they give more of a rat’s asshole than the Kossites when it comes not only to accomplices to arson, but also to the arrests of five of the people who participated in the February riot at Evergreen State College where a police car was overturned. Because all “activists” have to have a nickname, the IMD’s are currently trying to decide what they’re going to call the five who were arrested yesterday. Suggestions include “The Valentine 5” (because the riot occurred the day after St. Valentine’s Day) of just “The Evergreen 5”.

The Seattle Times did a write up yesterday, about how “Evergreen is Healing”.

Student leaders and administrators hope that continuing forums and discussions will help the campus heal. Trevor Kinahan, a representative of the Geoduck Student Union, said it may be time to review the social contract, reassess police protocols and perhaps set up meetings with Olympia Police and the Olympia community. He said the riot may become a point of discussion in classes. And a student group has formed: Greeners for Truth and Reconciliation.

Purce said he will put measures in place “to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.”

“We are relatively quiet here in the woods, but we ended up with a wake-up call,” Purce said. “Sometimes, events come together in ways that no one expects.”

Well sir, I would just remind you that when you foster an environment where students are encouraged to hold mass demonstrations over the smallest of slights and even your instructors teach the students that having even a modicum of respect for authority (aka: letting the police arrest violent offenders and not flipping over police cars) is “A Bad Thing”, that you will have crap like this happen on your campus.

He should just feel lucky that his wasn’t the campus where these were found.

A student is in custody following the discovery of explosive devices at the University of California, Davis.

University police Capt. Joyce Souza tells the Sacramento Bee that investigators found what appears to be two pipe bombs in a dorm.

Though I’m sure he’d make excuses for that, too.

I remember Columbia University’s surprise when one of their Profs was busted with bombs back in January.

And that has been your Dmoestic Terrorism Update for March 7th, 2008.

They did what?

Oh yes they did.

Police investigate Times Square blast

A small bomb caused minor damage to an empty military recruiting station in Times Square early Thursday, shaking guests in hotel rooms high above “the crossroads of the world.”

Police blocked off the area to investigate the explosion, which occurred at about 3:45 a.m. No one was injured. The blast left a gaping hole in the front window and shattered a glass door, twisting and blackening its metal frame.

Authorities said at a news conference that a witness saw a person on a bicycle wearing a backpack and acting suspiciously, but that no one saw a person place the device in front of the recruiting center.

“If it is something that’s directed toward American troops then it’s something that’s taken very seriously and is pretty unfortunate,” said Army Capt. Charlie Jaquillard, who is the commander of Army recruiting in Manhattan.

Bombing federal property gets treated rather seriously. I’ll place my dollar on having the culprits in custody within 25 days.

The Berkeley anti-USMC folks are probably jumping for joy, wishing they had that big of balls.

The Soundboard: Congratulatory Sounds

Today’s edition is dedicated to HRC, for winning a whole two more delegates than BHO on Tuesday and keeping the biting, scratching and hair pulling while in free fall going for at least another six weeks.

All for our entertainment!

Live to Win – Motorhead

OK, so I really just wanted to post some Motorhead. Well, that and I never bought AC/DC’s 1995 release.

Oh, I like to close my eyes and think about how much Lemmy probably looks like the demon she mortgaged her soul to.

Btw, repayment of the loan is measured in firearms banned and melted down, because from the demons I’ve interviewed on the subject, the souls of innocents are the sweetest tasting.

Quit yer whinin’

He Who Thinks He’s Funny, also known as Blue Texan of Instaputz fame, also blogs over at Jane Hamsher’s FireDogLake blog was live and local at his caucus location in Travis County, TX on Tuesday night and regales readers with his whining about how the county Democrats couldn’t get their shit straight.

After waiting a while, we were told we had to wait because a rule needed to be clarified. Let me go ahead and repeat that. Hundreds of working people, many of whom have brought small children, are at this point still waiting around while the people running the caucus looked up the rules. Unreal.

After another 15-20 minutes, we were told that we would start the sign-in procedure — that should’ve started as soon as we arrived. But because there was no traffic plan, the guy running the caucus didn’t know who’d come in first, so he randomly picked a side to start signing in. And naturally, he picked the side of the room that had come in last, without really explaining how they were to approach the table. Needless to say, people weren’t thrilled with the injustice of this, so everyone just broke for the tables, creating a gigantic traffic jam.

Oh yeah — and for a gym full of hundreds of people (I’m guessing close to 500, if not more), there were only 2 tables taking signatures. Nice.

At this point, someone finally figures out that a microphone is available and turns it on. We’re now told that we might have to wait ’till after all the signatures are collected, despite what the Travis County Democratic Party had told us all along.

Now, the Obama people start shouting that the Hillary people are challenging the rules and that we’ll have to stay if we want our signature to count. Then a guy gets back on the mic and reads the rules aloud (the rules we all already know) that no, you just have to sign in and then you can leave. But the Obama people keep telling us that we have to stay. It’s never clear exactly who’s right or who’s in charge.

Finally, the babies are totally melting down and there’s still practically no movement in the line. So we just leave in frustration.

And this guy will write 1,000 words, sometimes day after day, about how the government, and namely the Democrat Party, should be “giving” citizens healthcare.

Apparently, he hasn’t figured out that this is what doctor’s office and/or hospitals will be like if that nightmare ever goes through.

I think that he might be informed better on the subject if he took a look into the recent surge of “Do-It-Yourself” dentistry in the UK.

Just a Tip

When they’re not out to got you, being paranoid is just plain funny.

I wasn’t going to waste my time blogging the made-up controversy being perpetrated my the cows over at the dKos Animal Farm and Petting Zoo, and their allegations against the HRC campaign of darkening a photo of Obama on her website “to make him look more black”. Charles Johnson has the comparison and the explanation here.

I was ignoring this as just them treating HRC like a Republican, but then the Napoleon of the dKos went to his keyboad and managed to pull off the ultimate in contortions: Simultaneously putting his foot in his mouth while his head was up his ass.

Remember the “RATS” ad used against Gore in 2000? The Bush campaign was mocked in its claims of ignorance because ad makers pore over every detail of their ads before releasing them for broadcast. There was a concerted effort by Clinton’s ad people to make Obama look darker, more sinister, and with a wider nose. The evidence is indisputable.

I like me a good beer buzz, but there is no way I would ever want some of the meds Moultas is on. Being that whacked out of my skull twenty-four hours a day would just be too damn annoying.

Talk about being a low life

Some chuckleheads in north central Idaho have filed suit against the federal government to overturn a decision that refused to classify the Giant Palouse Earthworm as “endangered”.

The Center for Biological Diversity, Palouse Prairie Foundation, Palouse Audubon, Friends of the Clearwater, and individuals Steve Paulson and Lynne Nelson filed today to overturn a decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that the giant Palouse earthworm (Driloleirus americanus) does not warrant protection as an endangered species under the Endangered Species Act.

“The giant Palouse earthworm is extremely rare and faces substantial risk of extinction,” said Noah Greenwald, conservation biologist with the Center for Biological Diversity. “Denial of protection for the earthworm is all too typical of the Bush administration, which has protected the fewest number of species under the Endangered Species Act of any administration since the law was passed.” To date, the Bush administration has protected only 58 species, compared to 522 under Clinton and 231 under the first Bush president.

What, do these people see the Presidency as a race to see how many species an administration can stick onto the list? And exactly what does “Biological Diversity” mean, and how much affirmative action for other forms of life are they looking for?

On October 9, 2007, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service released a 90-day finding denying that the groups’ petition contained enough information to warrant any protection for the giant Palouse earthworm. Steve Paulson, a board member of Friends of the Clearwater, said: “This is absurd! This is the same agency that told me that our petition contained more data on this earthworm than any other source. They are playing political games at the giant Palouse earthworm’s expense, and we are spitting mad.”

The “spitting mad” comment comes from the fact that, apparently, this earthworm can spit at attackers. Also, the damn thing is three feet long.

Besides believing that these people need to seriously find a real hobby, my only other thoughts on this would be: 1. Just think of how many trout you could catch with just one of those worms, and 2. We’d better find one to set on a Boomer this April before a Dem gets in and mark it endangered (just kidding, that’d be real messy).

Looks as though the propaganda worked

A Kaiser poll shows that people don’t mind if the US falls out of the top slot in medical R&D.

Of course, looking at the questions, it seems as though either folks think that government should run all research or they should make the private firms employ more federal employees.
