Idiots

Bank Managers fire Loan Officer for being too sexy.  Agree, disagree, I don’t care, the story is just too tabloid anyway you cut it.  If true, the managers are idiots for exposing themselves to such a lawsuit just because they couldn’t behave like gentlemen.  Maybe they should’ve taken to punching themselves in the ‘nads everytime they got distracted, that would’ve re-focused their attention.

Of course, if it isn’t true, well, she’s got those sexy photos in the NY Post now, somebody will ask her to model, or star in some dumbass reality show.

Am I missing something?

Despite what some folks would like to think, the leftosphere is not always wrong. The majority of the time, yes, but it is not a 100% deal.

And so now I am wondering about the latest decision on Miranda. They are making a huge fuss about the decision which, as best as I can glean from it, basically says you need to be very forward with your refusal to talk or sign anything without a lawyer.

It makes sense to me, but I keep butting up against my dislike of giving any more power to the constabulary.

No one that I have seen in the rightosphere is talking about the decision, and while I tend to agree with the Justices in the majority, I am still scratching my head a bit.

Anyone else got a line on this thing? Anyone? Bueller?

“Free” Medicine is unsustainable?

Color me less than shocked.

Pressured by an aging population and the need to rein in budget deficits, provinces are taking tough measures to curb healthcare costs, a trend that could erode the principles of the popular state-funded system.

Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, kicked off a fierce battle with drug companies and pharmacies when it said earlier this year it would halve generic drug prices and eliminate “incentive fees” to generic drug manufacturers.

British Columbia is replacing block grants to hospitals with fee-for-procedure payments and Quebec has a new flat health tax and a proposal for payments on each medical visit, an idea that critics say is an illegal user fee.

And a few provinces are also experimenting with private funding for procedures such as hip, knee and cataract surgery.

You may have heard about the system they wrote about in that last sentence. It is a revolutionary product called “Privately Purchased Health Insurance” and, believe it or don’t, but people actually pay for that directly out of their own pocket.

I know. Sounds barbarian, doesn’t it?
