It is a standard bullseye. However, in the center or X ring write the letter A. The next ring out is B, the next ring is C, the next is D and the last two rings are F.
The procedure:
You need to shoot 4 targets per gun, so as to represent the three quarters of school, plus summer classes. Take four shots at each target to represent four school classes per quarter. You may put the targets all on the same board, (if your range allows that sort of thing) or you can shoot them individually, or any combination of the two.
Scoring will go like this:
Getting a hit in the A ring gets you a 4.0
The B ring is a 3.0
The C ring is a 2.0
The D ring is a 1.0
And putting a flier in the F rings is worth 0.0
Unlike standard scoring, if you hit the ring itself you do not get the higher ring’s score (or in this case, grade point). Instead, you take a penalty and get, in the case of hitting the line between the A and B rings, a 3.5.
On each individual target, representing each of your school quarters, you then need to add up the points from your hits and divide by four to get your GPA for that quarter. Once you have all of your quarters scored, add up those GPA’s and divide by four again to get your yearly GPA.

Classes are as follows:
CLASS ONE: Any rimfire handgun with no more than a 12″ barrel, iron sights.
CLASS TWO: Any rimfire handgun with no more than a 12″ barrel, optic sights, no magnification.
CLASS THREE: Any centerfire (non-revolver) handgun with no more than a 12″ barrel, iron sights.
CLASS FOUR: Any centerfire (non-revolver) handgun with no more than a 12″ barrel, optic sights, no magnification.
CLASS FIVE: Any revolver with no more than a 12″ barrel, iron sights.
CLASS SIX: Any revolver with no more than a 12″ barrel, optic sights, no magnification.
CLASS SEVEN: Any handgun with no more than a 14″ barrel, any sights, scopes, laser, whatever. This class is primarily for target pistols.
DISTANCE: 25 feet, or Ten yards, which ever is available at your range.
SHOOTING POSITION: Standing, un-supported, off-hand, one or two hands on gun permitted.
As Mr. C says “If you have something interesting to shoot that doesn’t quite fit in the above classes, go ahead and enter anyway.â€
Though there is not an actual official “rifle/carbine†class, I’d like to mention here that I shoot this target at 25 yards with my 10-22 with a holo-sight and my Marlin bolt action 22 with it’s factory irons with my elbow resting on the bench. I have also shot this target at both 100 and 200 yards with both my .22-250 and my 308 from a bench rest.
