It has been a source of amusement to me that among our clients is a powerful relative of a former head of Handgun Control, Inc.; today I noticed that we also briefly had a fairly famous female gunwriter from the ’90s on the client list as well.
I could probably start calculating my own gunnie version of a Bacon number, but naaaah.

Welding class is going swimmingly. An hour of class time in the morning and two and a half hours of welding. A break for lunch and then another hour of class time and then another one and a half to two hours of welding. Then we shut down and clean up and get out the door.
It’s almost like work. In fact, I have called it “at work” more than once when talking about my day to The Wife.
There are 15 of us in the main body of 1st Quarter students and another 15-20 of students remaining from previous classes. One of the problems of this course as told by the instructor is that as students raise up their skill levels, employers stop in and waive money under their noses and pull them from the course.
I think I made a good choice. So now I have to get my skills up.
Yesterday was day five and I’ve been doing oxy/acetylene welding for three and a half days. We went from creating quarter inch diameter pools of molten steel on a 4in x 4in square of 16 gauge steel and moving them in straight lines to laying down basic beads and now to corner and edge joints.
I have pieced together my own home oxy/acetylene rig and will be practicing over the weekends. Sadly, Buddy the Jeep had a major brake caliper failure (RF seized) and I had to limp him home last Thursday. So I will be rebuilding the front brake assemblies on both sides this weekend and not practicing. But that is life.

This one is good, but whatever you do, DO NOT try to learn welding from internet videos. That shit will get you killed. I would rather sit near one of Joe’s Boomers as someone was firing at it than be in the vicinity of most of the guys shooting welding vids for the intarwebs.

A reminder: on January 1st, 1996, this happened just over the border.
Stop and frisk was shit law. Everyone who believes in individual liberty knows that. And even most of those who don’t believe in it know it, they just don’t care.
And good riddance to stop and frisk. Had it survived the court challenges, it would have spread across the US to a burg near you.
But Bloomberg was right in that it did help the criminals decide that some days it wasn’t worth the possibility to of getting stopped and frisked and that leaving their point and click devices at home might be a good idea.
The recent ruling to reform the New York Police Department’s controversial ‘stop-and-frisk’ tactic has already led to a sharp rise in shootings, new figures reveal.
In the month after the policy was ruled unconstitutional shootings spiked nearly 13 per cent while gun seizures fell almost a fifth, the figures show.
In the 28 days up to September 8 there were 140 shootings across the city, compared with 124 over the same period last year, according to NYPD statistics.
So now let us all hope that whomever wins the mayor’s race this fall has some damn common sense to do what needs to be done to bring the crime rate back down to a reasonable levels.
Jail the criminals. Don’t blame inanimate objects.

CLIMATEGATE II: SCIENTISTS PUSHED TO HIDE DATA – Emails leaked to the AP show the U.S. and other governments pushed scientists preparing a new UN climate report due out next week to omit or downplay evidence that the earth’s atmosphere has stopped warming for the past 15 years.
Follow the money on BOTH sides. That is where the warmenistas went wrong.
That is also why “critical thinking” is a crock of manure. Until you learn to think analytically, you will on think critically of that which you oppose. It is human nature. We’re lazy, so we only burn time attempting to cut through opposing viewpoints.
