Seeing as how government is a hive of ineptitude and failure, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that they actually had to study this to find the truth.

The Effects of Minimum Wages on Employment

The minimum wage has gained momentum among policymakers as a way to alleviate rising wage and income inequality. Much of the debate over this policy centers on whether raising the minimum wage causes job loss, as well as the potential magnitude of those losses. Recent research shows conflicting evidence on both sides of the issue. In general, the evidence suggests that it is appropriate to weigh the cost of potential job losses from a higher minimum wage against the benefits of wage increases for other workers.

They “discovered”, “unexpectedly” as Instapundit would say, that hikes in the minimum wage rates leads to lower employment levels.

And since the government is always right, you may now just keep this link handy for when a progressive swings through with their “no it doesn’t” arguments.

You’d think that passing a slew of over-reaching executive orders would be enough for Captain Demagogue during the first week of his last year in office.

It’s not

Obama to Participate in Townhall on Guns

President Barack Obama will sit down for a live one-hour town hall on guns hosted by CNN on Thursday.

The event, titled “Guns in America,” will air at 8 p.m. EST. It also falls a day before the fifth anniversary of the shooting of former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords (D) at a constituent meeting outside a supermarket in Tucson.

According to CNN, the president will discuss gun violence and take questions from the audience.

If this guy were able to run again, this would count as an in-kind campaign contribution and somebody would be suing CNN for equal time.

And 2016 starts out weird

Some Facebook group is occupying a remote federal property in BFE Oregon, and the leftists hate it because of a couple of the known participants.

A group of gunmen seized control of an empty federal building in remote Burns, Oregon, on Saturday, announced they planned to occupy the facility for “years” and called for “patriots” to join them — and bring more guns. The men now occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge building include at least two sons of Cliven Bundy, the rancher whose legal battle with the government over grazing rights culminated in an armed standoff with federal authorities near Bunkerville, Nevada, in 2014.

Sure, the occupier’s reasoning is skewed, but these same, so-called, mainstream writers saw no problem with the Occupy Movement’s coordinated actions across the nation or their ridiculous reasoning. Showing their true colors, these mainstream stories at the HuffPo are essentially calling for the police to start a firefight with these guys.

It must be nice to be so politically privileged that you can have two standards.

Judge upholds Seattle’s ‘gun violence’ tax

A county judge dismissed a case filed by the National Rifle Association and other gun groups that challenge’s Seattle’s so called “gun violence” tax.

Because of the ruling, the city’s $25-per-firearm tax on firearm sales goes becomes law at New Year’s Day, and the NRA and a host of other plaintiffs, notably the Washington-based Second Amendment Foundation, must pay taxable costs and attorney fees.

In his opinion issued Dec. 22, Judge Palmer Robinson denied a motion for summary judgement by the gun groups, and deemed the ordinance as a lawful exercise of the city’s taxing authority, not a regulation.

I understand the idea of judiciary stepping stones and that if the judge would have agreed with the SAF and NRA the city would be appealing. I’m just not happy the city gets the headline.

Already struggling with finances, the Democratic Party has drafted a plan to have taxpayers help pay about $20 million for next summer’s nominating convention, reversing a change Congress approved just a year ago.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who is also a congresswoman from Florida, has drafted a bill to restore money that both parties used to receive from the federal government to help defray the costs of running their quadrennial conventions.

Tell your congresscritter to stand firm against this. Let them pay for their own pity party.

US Intel: ISIS may have passport printing machine, blank passports

With the U.S. and other countries on high alert for ISIS attacks, American authorities are warning the terror group’s followers may have infiltrated American borders with authentic-looking passports ISIS has printed itself with its own machines, according to an intelligence report obtained by ABC News.

The 17-page Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Intelligence Report, issued to law enforcement last week, says ISIS likely has been able to print legitimate-looking Syrian passports since taking over the city of Deir ez-Zour last summer, home to a passport office with “boxes of blank passports” and a passport printing machine. Another passport office was located in Raqqa, Syria, which has long been ISIS’s de facto capital.

If a large amount of a currrency is no good, you stop letting people buy with it. When you  the suspect the ID’s no good, you don’t let the holder into the club/bar.

But when we have knowledge that large numbers of the passports are fake, our politicians, especially those on the left, ignore it.

When the immigration apologists have lost Larry Kudlow, something might be happening.
