On a personal note

There is a relatively new channel that popped up in my cable box called Ovation and a couple months ago they started showing three episodes of Boston Legal every Monday evening. So I started recording them onto the DVR to watch when there was nothing else on. The series is being shown in production order, so it’s kind of like having the DVD set without having to buy them.

Yes, the show is preachy and devoutly leftist, but I’m a big boy and can ignore all that while still enjoying the characters and their banter. But I’ve noticed one other thing it is that I really do enjoy about it: It is a primer on Jury Nullification.

In the majority of episodes, when they “win the big case” it is because a jury decided to not convict the person of the charges the state had pressed even though it was plain the defendant was guilty.

I don’t watch many “court shows”. In fact, I can’t think of a single other one. So, I may just be missing a common theme or trope, but if this isn’t common, it should be. Maybe more justice would be done instead of just rubber stamping indictments into convictions for the pleasure of District Attorneys everywhere.

We used to get that channel, until Dish dropped them.

Keep an eye out for Murdoch – also known as The Artful Detective

it’s a cross between CSI and Sherlock Holmes, with a dash of humor.
