Proof that Voter ID laws work

On Tuesday, September 10th in Poplarville, Mississippi, there was an election for Alderman.

The candidates were Stephanie Bounds and Glenn Bolin.

There were 354 votes cast, with each candidate getting 177 votes. They ended up drawing straws to decide the winner on Tuesday this week. Bolin won the drawing.

It all sounds rather straightforward. Folks from big burgs will probably be chuckling about how quaint it sounds too.

But there was a 355th voter. This person, however, didn’t bring a photo ID and was made to fill out an “affidavit” or provisional vote form and was told to show up at the town registrars office with their ID within five days to make their vote count.

They never showed up.

The leftists are calling this an example of how “evil” voter ID laws stop people from voting. I think it shows how voter ID laws helped make it so that the proper person won. Yes, by a straw. But the followup process disenfranchised no one, whereas a false vote would have possibly disenfranchised half of the town’s population.
