Updates and New Arrivals

A while back I made mention that I was going to update The Hun Bastard away from his kinder, gentler wood stock and Hensoldt wearing self to an MBR that would cause the Mothers Demanding Attention to fill their Depends undergarments.

It has been a while, but I think I’ve done well.

Went to the range recently to get the 200yd zero on the Burris MTAC 3.5-10x. I still have the Hensoldt with all it’s accessories, if you know anybody who is looking for one.

I must say that the Magpul PRS2 stock is a must for the HK91 type rifles. The abusive recoil from the skinny buttstocks is gone. I think that once I get the heavy buffer put in there this beast will be a flat-out puppydog to shoot.

I don’t remember who made the handguard. Probably ATS. It is aluminum, doesn’t rattle, and I can attach stuff to it. Buy one if you like your handguard to do those things. I also bought a real-deal HK flash hider for the rifle because it works.

I’m probably going to fab up a spacer for the stock that’ll go between the stock and the recoil pad. While it does give the best amount of LOP from any of the available stocks, it still isn’t enough for my monkey arms and stupid-length neck. I’m also looking into fabbing up a replacement for the charging handle. Even the G36 replacement handle isn’t enough to get hamfist fingers under it with relative comfort during repeated use. It needs to be light because of the momentum it gets when you release it, and I’m not up to welding on aluminum just yet.

And as you can see, the ammo of the day was this can from The Ammoman.

The newest resident in my safe isn’t “new” in any way other than y’all ain’t seen it yet.

I bought the lower from SAA two Christmases ago before the price went “way” up after Newtown, and the IPK shortly thereafter before they disappeared. I put it together during the first week of my layoff last August and have been slowly building it with parts that came off the UPS truck. SAA upper, 16″ 1-in-8 barrel with a Smith Enterprises flash hider

The scope is also a Burris MTAC, this one is 1.5-6x because it was the same price as the 1-4x and my eyes aren’t going to get any better. The stock is a skeleton-type from ACE. As long as they keep making them, I’ll keep buying them. Great LOP and the cheekwelds aren’t cold.

About the only upgrade I plan on making is a hydraulic buffer. The one thing I really don’t like about AR’s is the “spring-zing” right under my face. The hydro-buffers don’t get rid of all of it, but they are an improvement.

So there you go. And both of these gentlemen will be joining me at Boomershoot, which is now less than a month away. Feel free to come see them in person.

Also for debut at Boomershoot, I’m drawing up a new type of “modular” shooting bench that I’ll be building in the next couple weeks (I bought the steel yesterday). I scare-quoted “modular” because I wanted to use the word “portable” instead. But sadly, it won’t really be light and portable. You’ll be able to be able to take it apart for easy transport, but once assembled it may take two people to move it around. You can switch from left, right, and center shooting positions and have a customizable shooting benchtop and seat.

You will likely also be able to park your truck on top of it. I don’t know way you would want to do that, but there you go.

UPDATE: Sneak peek. More pics and info next week.

Email me with pricing on that Hensoldt. It will look good on top of the CETME Modelo B.
