I’m not a big fan of laws, but it would be nice if there was one that said every government decision, such as the demand to seize money from Xs account or tax refund, must be signed in person by a real human with decision-making authority, and that name must be provided upon demand to any person who is affected. So, in the case of this story, Mary Grice could demand the name of the person who came to the decision and approved taking HER money, and must explain it to her, in person, or at the very least live on the phone or video-conference, and that conversation can be recorded for any public purpose.
Such a law might cut down on such stupidity, which is why the Feds would never pass such a law.
