So the editors of the Hartford Courant want the constabulary of the various jurisdictions in Connecticut to use the background check database to see if they can figure out who hasn’t registered their “assault weapons” under the new law.

First of all, I am sure, now that they have come out in favor of rounding up private citizens for disobeying the authorities under a questionably unconstitutional law, would be the first to line up to register themselves for a Journalism License.

Secondly, they do understand that, even in CT, the background check doesn’t actually refer to the type of firearm they purchased, right? And just how far are they willing to go back in the records search? “Assault Weapons” have been sold for decades.

Also, the MSM has a wonderful time telling average consumers that “registration doesn’t lead to confiscation” and that anyone who believes it will is just “paranoid” or “crazy”. This idea of their would seem to refute that.

I’m sure you have seen Mike Vanderbough and Sipsey Street and his letters to the editor of the courant regarding this thing and the consequences of 4th Generation Warfare and The Clintonian Rules of Engagement.

All y’all know what “courant” means, right? The very title of that fishwrap means “runner” or “messenger” in French. The Hartford paper, by its own title, admits that it has no original thought, that they are just flunkies doing the bidding of others.

BTW, I somehow doubt that the Courant could qualify for a Journalism licence. Liar’s licence, maybe. Traitor’s licence, more likely.

4473 has the firearm on it. Not that they are going to be able to use that either.

I would bet the Courant was a tory paper back when it was founded.

Actually, some firearms are recorded in the State Police database when you buy them. All handguns are recorded- make, model and ser#. Long guns didn’t have to be recorded but strangely enough some are. I don’t know if it was the FFLs just sending the info in or what. Any stripped lower bought was recorded in the database. I was explained that since you could either build a pistol or rifle configuration, it was captured in the database. I bought one complete AR in 2000. It’s in my list. I later bought two lowers on different occasions and both are on my list of guns in the SP database. Likewise a shotgun.
