Obama to cut medical benefits for active, retired military, not union workers
In an effort to cut defense spending, the Obama Administration plans to cut health benefits for active duty and retired military personnel and their families while not touching the benefits enjoyed by unionized civilian defense workers.
It is theorized that his administration wants to shuffle the active duty and retired into the Obamacare rolls.
Proving, once again, that “Obamacare” is an oxymoron.
Federal GS (civilian) workers have been hearing rumors that we will all be dumped into the Obamacare market, to add a few million more people for balance. It’s not clear if we would get additional pay to offset the additional costs, or whether it would be a screw-job. Also not clear whether federal departments would have to pay the fine for not providing health insurance.
The union really, really wants the bargaining unit to be screwed, because being in the bargaining unit is mandatory, but paying dues is optional. Dues-paying members are 8% of the the bargaining unit. The unions would love to inflict pain, and have people running to pay dues for protection.
