Saying America has a problem with guns is akin to saying that the Middle East & Asia Minor has a problem with bombs. It’s really missing the deeper issue.

I don’t think many of the bomb-makers in the Middle East are doing so recreationally, unlike most of the gun owners in the US.
That depends on your definition of “recreation”.
Perhaps it would be more accurate to state that the vast majority of gun owners in the US have no immediate plans to use their guns to kill anyone, not something that could be claimed for the bomb-makers in the Middle East, recreational or no.
