It is hard to live in America & not enjoy some financial benefit from the federal government. Still, if you are going to be critical of federal welfare, you shouldn’t partake of it, or at the very least, you should acknowledge the welfare you use as such.

That’s the point – politicians are making it impossible not to partake. They claim almost half my income as theirs, then dole it back to me in small quantities if I do as they want. Much of what the article talks about – earned income tax credits, Medicare and Social Security – are programs designed to give people their tax money back either immediately or over time. I’d rather keep my money and take care of myself and family like an adult.
Politicians love these programs. They get to act like Santa by handing out goodies, and holding the goodies hostage for votes.
Exactly!
Still, if you are going to be critical of such things, don’t give them the opportunity to call you a hypocrite.
It’s like the Koch Brothers, who are against corporate welfare. When reporters call them on taking advantage of corporate welfare, they are honest, say yes, we do, but we have no choice if we want to survive as a business.
