It’s set up like this for a reason.

CMS estimates that $48 billion of estimated Medicare outlays of $509 billion in fiscal 2010 went to improper payments, including fraudulent ones. “However, this improper payment estimate did not include all of the program’s risk since it did not include improper payments in its Part D prescription drug benefit, for which the agency has not yet estimated a total amount,” said Kathleen King, director of GAO’s health care team.

Phil, I’m trying to remember correctly here, but in the runup to ObamaCare hitting the Hill, wasn’t it revealed that part of the plan to “pay” for it included eliminating all the present fraud, waste and abuse, even though the dot.gov wasn’t sure how all of it was happening, and they did, in fact, pull all of those numbers out of their hoo-hoos?

Oblama has played this one very cute, pulling out the fraud card whenever he wants to look like he give a shit about efficient gov’t, but hiding that card back up his sleeve before anyone can count the spots on it.
