That pesky first amendment

It would appear that you’ve stumbled upon a little Hitler there, Mad Rocket.
This is less about the First (which probably IS being violated), than it is about the dark side of a meglomaniac bursting forth upon the suffering public in, and outside of, his jurisdiction.
I’m reminded of that place somewhere in the South where the cops set up a speed trap, and the local town clowns carted those who couldn’t pay the “road bail” off to the bucket, then charged them huge “fees” for their trouble. It took a Federal Court to break that little scheme down, and it will probably take another Federal Court to break this Sheriff.
The fight against the Sheriff should be sold THIS way: it will eventually cost the citizens of that County plenty in the damages that are going to be assessed against their Sheriff, who probably won’t be held just PERSONALLY liable (we can hope he will, though), but will also be held PROFESSIONALLY liable. The taxpayers in the County will be on the hook for THOSE damages.
