Is he suggesting that cramming children of wildly different backgrounds, intelligence, educations, and parental support structures and force-feeding them one way of learning is not optimal?
MADNESS!!!
I think the most fascinating part is that given a goal, a bit of encouragement, and the information needed to learn, groups of kids will teach themselves & each other whatever you want them to know (but it has to be a group, individual children are not so good at this)
Some years back I was at work and got a call from son about the truck he’d bought(he was 16); it needed a brake job and he’d planned on picking up the parts. He’d got the parts, and then done it all himself: “I looked it up, it was all pretty straightforward.”
Similar things on other kids. When they WANT to learn something, you can’t stop the little bastards.
