    To be fair, when the Patriot Act was passed they quoted Ben Franklin’s “Those who trade freedom for security deserve neither” (paraphrase) at us in response. But they never noticed those conservatives who were uncomfortable with the Patriot Act, either initially or when more details about it came to light. Nope, they just looked at what the GOP was saying and assumed it applied to every one of us.
    The People of the United States are not a monolithic block.
