Not to “defend” BP, but one of the more insipid items they have been getting their hats handed to them on is their “plan” on dealing with a spill/leak in the gulf. It included “facts and figures” about seals and walruses that would be effected by a spill/leak there, and had a dead man as the “expert” they would refer to if a spill happened.
I think I’ve seen the entire afternoon/evening gang at MSNBC report on this “plan” a half a dozen times each over the past few weeks or so.
What they won’t tell you is that this “plan” came from the feds’ MMS. Nearly word for word.
Not only that, but they were all but required by the MMS to cut and paste this plan into their drilling application.
I read mention somewhere in the leftosphere about the spill/leak response of one of the Scandinavian nations: The drilling company has one week to fix it and clean it up. If they cannot do so in the allotted amount of time, that country then takes over operations and sends the company the bill for clean up.
I like that plan. Of course, that country probably knows what the fuck they’re doing in regards to cleaning up oil.
That’s not the American way of doing things! Here in the US, the Government says they’re taking over and kicking their ass. The government then doesn’t. The government then bills the populace for the work they didn’t do, thereby kicking OUR asses.
