The only kind of bank the leftists like

A “Carbon Bank”.

Haven’t heard that term before?

That’s not so strange, as it appears they’ve made up this new verbiage only recently so that their religion’s Thesaurus can be made more substantial. Essentially, a “Carbon Bank” is forested land that “soaks up” CO2 and slows the rate of drowning polar bears, or something.

Anyway, there are a pair of bills running through the respective houses of Congress that will let some of the tribes in Alaska select 80,000 acres of Tongass National Forest to settle some of the claims they’ve made against the federal government.

The treehugging bunnyhmpers are totally fer shur that the tribes going to take a Paul Bunyan sized lawn mower to the entirety of the acreage the moment the bills pass and get signed and are wanting to put a stop to it, post haste. They have whipped out the new phrase in an attempt to make the eco-socialist pale faces a little more pale.

Here are a couple of numbers to see if we can abate that:

The Tongass National Forest has nearly 15 million acres of forested land. If the math is completed, the tribes are getting .005% of the forested land, none of which is classified as “Old Growth”.

In April, 2008, George W. Bush signed legislation that created the Wild Sky Wilderness area in northwestern Washington State. Nearly 107,000 acres of mostly privately owned land was taken from the owners with two votes and a signature. To add insult to injury, a large number of those previous owners have yet to be compensated even though they still cannot use the land.

A “Wilderness Area” has rules which are much stricter than those of a National Forest as to who can access it and how. For instance, there are paved roads in and through National Forests. You will be cited, fined, and asked to leave a “Wilderness Area” for riding a bicycle. You’ll probably have to walk out too as they’ll confiscate your bicycle.

While I know that the left won’t be happy until all land is owned by the government, this whining is utter and complete shit. IF this legislation passes, they’ll still have gained 27,000 acres of controlled forested land over the last two years. Add to that the 10 Million acre land grab that is sure to go down soon and they’re on the HUGE side of the WIN column.

Tell your Congresscritter to vote FOR this legislation.

The government should be willing to pay all of us in land. Let’s get them used to it now. Maybe, if we get someone who has at the very least READ the Constitution in the Oval in 2012, we can suggest it as a debt solution.

Unoccupied land is the only thing they have that we don’t. I’d gladly trade in my yearly refund $$$ in occupy-able dirt any damn day of the week.
