  1. That is a cool one. Respectfully request permission to “borrow” it for my own blog and one I am a contributor on.

I suppose that one could get into a deep philosophical discussion of the merits of Gary Gygax’s superimposing Michael Moorcock’s Law/Chaos spectrum on the Judeo-Christian/Biblical Good/Evil dichotomy. (In fact, I know from experience; I plead excessive cheap beer & a stressful, late night D&D session!) I think the biggest objection to it in the context of Dungeons and Dragons was the idea that all followers of a religion would fall into one of those nine categories.

I’m not sure about Rorschach’s placement there, and I don’t recognize the “Pure Neutral” guy at all. Most of these seem to be accurate reflections of how I envision the various “positions”, though.

  3. Toastrider says:

Not to mention that I’ve seen an image that puts Batman into /all nine of the alignments/, and makes perfect sense in context.

There’s a reason why the alignment system is almost more of a corollary in 4th Edition. You could see it getting routed to the back when the Eberron campaign setting came out.

  4. Kyle says:

The pure neutral guy is a character from Futurama, the leader of the Neutral Planet. Every action and statement he makes in the episode is completely neutral.

They host a new orbiting headquarters for the Democratic Order Of Planets because their neutrality will ensure no meddling. When asked for his thoughts on the dedication, the leader states, “I have no strong feelings one way or the other.”

The planet goes on “beige alert” when they find out that they are about to be destroyed. He instructs one of his minions, “Tell my wife I said ‘hello.'” ETC.
