First get shot

Then get SWAT’ed.

An update to yesterday’s story.

The guy who survived a early AM Monday home invasion robbery at his home, which also happens to be a state-licensed medical marijuana growing facility, was at the hospital being treated for minor gunshot wounds when the King County Sheriff’s Dept. decided they needed to ransack his house RIGHT NOW!.

A medical marijuana activist, Steve Sarich, plans to sue King County for the way he and his property were treated during a search of his home Monday.

King County Sheriff’s deputies scoured the Kirkland man’s home with a search warrant just hours after Sarich exchanged gunfire with home invasion suspects.

“First I got violated by the home invaders and then I got violated by the King County Sheriff’s Department,” Sarich told KIRO Radio’s Dave Ross Tuesday. “Now we’re going to sue them. We will sue King County.”

Sarich said there were SWAT team members breaking down doors and ransacking his home while he was being treated for a gunshot wound at the hospital.

“Somebody wanted me raided and this was their excuse to do it.”

He said he stayed in a hotel Monday night with his girlfriend and three dogs, and returned home to a huge mess.

“We just got back in the house…and it’s a total wreck. They cut holes in the walls. I don’t know what they thought they were going to find in our walls. Clothes everywhere, papers everywhere. They stole every computer in my home. They stole, gosh, all kinds of stuff that had nothing to do with marijuana.”

Sarich runs CannaCare, an organization that provides marijuana plants to patients. He said Tuesday morning that he does not flower marijuana plants at his house, but runs his grow operation like a nursery. He says many of the plants there were new cuttings and likely had not yet developed roots.

A spokesman for the King County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found 385 marijuana plants at the home.

He was one of a handful of state-licensed grow operations. The week before, another licensed grower was killed during a home invasion robbery. Mr. Sarich took it upon himself to cover his own ass, and take a murderer off the streets by filling him with high speed projectiles, and this is the thanks the Sheriff’s Dept. decided he deserved.

Stay classy, Sheriff Rahr!

  1. Nice. Good thing he had his dogs with him at the hotel, or they’d all be dead.

Sounds as if the good sheriff was pissed because he didn’t get his walkin’ around money that week.

Hmmm…ya don’t s’pose that this home invasion gang was the same in both instances, do ya, and if it was, where they got their info, hmmmm?

  4. Phil says:

Yes, we’re all pretty sure it was, RD. The info is publicly held and could have either been gotten from an office in Oly or from the clinics themselves.
