Two perspectives.
As as Engineer, I have a degree of specialization (idiocy), but I did take advantage of the University and take non-Engineering electives beyond the 5 required ones (and I actually got funny looks from advisors and classmates for doing it). Â I think though, for the most part, these guys are right, even the old Ivy Leagues are catering to the whims of the students instead of holding the standards high.
