When I got home from work this evening, the brochure below was on my front porch.
$17.50/hour!!! Are you kidding me? To do what exactly? I am sure that Acorn the Census Bureau could find plenty of people sitting on their asses at home that could do this job for minimum wage. But, I guess that might be a pay cut versus welfare.
I know that it is required by the Constitution, but at a cost of $17,700,000,000.00! That is not a typo. I meant that many zeroes.
Speaking of the Census: I answered question #1. I recommend that you do the same.
I’ve been meaning to research that. So you gave them the # of residents and nothing else? No names, etc.
From what I’ve been able to find so for it is a $100 fine to refuse to answer, which seems a small price to pay for my privacy 🙂
I answered #1 and #9 where I wrote the word, “American”

Heh. They’re offering $22.50 to the census takers up here in Vail, CO.
To expand on Scott’s thought …. why pay them minimum wage, why not make them work for the paycheck (known as welfare, and other giveaways), WE give them every month.
Nah, wouldn’t want them to have to WORK for their income ! How selfish of me.
From past census periods, there are no known instances of prosecution for incomplete forms, according to an article I read.
It would, however, probably result in you getting on one of Gauleiter Napolitano’s “domestic terror” watchlists.
I write a gun/righty political blog, so I presume I’m already on one or more of those lists.
I lost my job back in November, and those census jobs have been mighty tempting for the pay. I can’t bring myself to apply though. I’ve already been in a job situation where I’ve been told to break the law, and I don’t want to be there again. Besides, I live in a pretty rural area. There’s a good chance of getting my ass shot off if I go bumbling around asking intrusive questions around here.
