Refusing to adhere to our national history

For reasons unknown to me, one of the Crooks and Liars frontpagers decided that yesterday was a good day to reminisce about 1951.

Among the items from 1951 that were noted: The Cold War,  MacArthur being relived of his command and the Kefauver Crime Committee Hearings.

Also remembered: “the trial of accused spies Julius and Ethel Rosenburg.”

Excuse me? “Accused”?

Umm, no.

“Convicted” would be the proper term. By both a jury of their peers and by history.

I can understand the want to remember their brethren kindly, but let the factual record reign, please.

One Response to Refusing to adhere to our national history

Venona pretty much put this one to rest. Ironically, Rosenburg’s code name was ‘Liberal’.
