In the clink

Seven DUI convictions. Not two. Not four. Not six. Seven.

That equals 30 months in jail in Oregon.

And did I mention that he’s in the country illegally?

A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 30 months in prison following his seventh conviction for driving drunk.

Deschutes County Judge Stephen Tiktin ruled that Rafael Diaz-Quintana is ineligible for early release and barred from participating in any rehabilitation programs. Tiktin said rehab programs are unsuitable for someone incapable of reform.

Tiktin said Diaz-Quintana has repeatedly been ordered into alcohol treatment but has continued to drive drunk. Diaz-Quintana is subject to a U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold and will likely be deported following his release.

Well thank goodness they didn’t wait until he got behind the wheel drunk an eighth time! That would have been worser!

On the plus side, he DOES seem to be a very easy drunk to catch, and he doesn’t spend much time or money fighting the prosecution….

A drunk with a GOOD lawyer is about the toughest to convict a District Attorney will ever face.
