Ammo for Sale (plus trivia)

I have 600rnds of 7.62×39 that I have determined I do not need. This is the product (click for bigger)

It is Yugo manufactured, headstamped 1979. Brass cased, copper jacketed. They come 40rnds per box, loaded on the SKS stripper clips.

I do not remember if it is Boxer or Berdan primed, so we’ll assume it is Berdan. I also know that the Yugos didn’t discover non-corrosive primers when the rest of the modern world did so there is a slight possibility that it may be corrosive. I clean my SKS’s rifles regularly after range trips and have not noticed any pitting.

It is damn good ammunition. I’ve shot it through every SKS I’ve owned and will continue to do so with the rest of the upteen hundreds of rounds I still have. It is more accurate than any of the aftermarket brands (Wolf, Silver Bear, Golden Bear, etc.).

I have 15 boxes of 40rnds each, totaling 600rnds, for sale.

You can get a 500rnd case of Wolf for $150. I would like to get $175 for these 600rnds.

Or, I do need 500rnds of 62gr 5.56.

Gunblogger Rendezvous co-sponsor Lucky Gunner has a 500rnd case of Golden Bear 62gr 5.56 for $175.

If you’re interested or know anyone who might be, comment here or hit the link to my email addy on the right sidebar. I’d like to get this done before the GBR or I can do the swap at the GBR.

Thank you for looking. Next week, a pistol will be put up for sale.

Now, for trivia.

Guess what The Mom found in a box of my old stuff. (click for bigger)

That is a 205gr .45ACP headstamped National 45 Auto. But what kind of projectile is it?

    Red tip = tracer, IIRC

    Nope. Anybody else?

  3. I’ll be glad to buy the ammo. I’m really low on 7.62×39 anyway. I’ll get in touch after I get back from California and before GBR-IV to pick it up and pay for it. Also to give you some stuff to carry to Reno for KeeWee and I.

    Is it that Pow-R-Ball stuff?

  5. guy says:

A factory proof load usually has both the entire projectile and the case head painted red.

If I remember right there were some hollowpoints that were filled with plastic to make sure the hollow doesn’t get filled up with fabric and fail to expand.

I can’t for the life of me remember where I saw that though.
