The Soundboard: And they’re having good weather too!

No, I don’t get to go to Boomershoot this year, and I think that is what caused the headache behind my left eye yesterday.

A decent number of my co-workers saw the Evening Magazine re-run of the 2005 Boomershoot piece and I’ve been getting asked “Don’t you go to that?” and “Why aren’t you there this year?” quite often the past two days or so and frankly, I’m quite tired of answering those questions right about now.

Thankfully, there will be very few drivers in tomorrow morning and I’ll get some farking peace and quiet.

But no, I’m not bitter, even though the IT department has conspired to make it so that I have no possible chance of even making a midnight run out there for the event Sunday (more network testing). I’m not bitter at all.

Oh, I’m getting a whole week off three weeks from tomorrow, but not one day this week (or weekend), but I’m not bitter.

OK, I may be a bit bitter about it. But I think I can resist from throttleing the next polesmoker who bumps into me at the hardware store, provided he apologizes.

In an attempt to make you at least a little bit as jealous as I am right now, I’m directing you to this post from Derek The Packing Rat, showing all the fun they’re having learning how to make Boomers and then lighting them off on Boomershoot Blogger Day.

You will probably like these two posts full of pics as well.

Myself, I’ll be weirding out for a bit here, trying not to argue with myself about how much sleep I can do without so that I can make the drive there, shoot, then drive back, and then go to work. I’m not bitter and shooting my 7/8in x 7/8in pool cue chalks at 200yds will suffice to quiet my Boomer-jones (because it will HAVE to).

Always good tunage to weird out to: La Villa Strangiato

And just to make the white-noise in my head go away, all y’all local to me need to keep the weekend of the 7th and 8th of this upcoming November open. I’m already working on a venue for a Pumpkin Splatterfest Blogger Blastorama the weekend after Halloween to make up for this insult to my mental state caused by my employment.

Well, I got excited until a couple minutes into the video. Sheesh. Why does it seem like all technical directors who switch these musical performances act like they’ve got a bad case of ADD. It would be nice to stay on one camera for more than two seconds. They should all be required to intern for a season at Austin City Limits before being allowed to switch any concert.
