Shocker!

No, not that kind of shocker.

I’m just finding it facetiously shocking how the left is responding to the DHS report on “Rightwing Extremism”.

After spending years writing about how anyone who at any time supported BushMcCheneyHitlerburton was a “fascistgunnutzealot”, they feign surprise that anyone on that side of the political aisle might be offended at being portrayed by their government as dangerous.

Local hatemonger, David Neiwert, is in full on Cleopatra-mode with his “Well, if you want to tie yourselves to radicals, I won’t stop you” after spending thousands of hours of keyboard time telling anyone who’ll listen that Republicans want to put liberals in detainment camps and kill anyone to the left of the liberals. Hell, he coined a phrase for it “Eliminationism” and recently got a book published on that exact premise.

You know, people like the member of The American Legion, who the racists at the Southern Poverty Law Center list as a “hate group” because the Legion feels that immigration laws work best when they are enforced.

There are even people now wondering if well known places such as, oh I don’t know, TEXAS, are going to be classified as “Terror States”

Islamic extremists’ acts of domestic terrorism were recently given the dignity, by Homeland Security Secretary Napolitano and President Obama, of being classified as man-made disasters, and abroad, the “war on terror” has been reclassified as an “overseas contingency plan”. But an entire non-Islamic class, or perhaps by extension entire states, according to the report, are not afforded such considerate and cordial titles if they are anti-abortion, tend to harbor returning soldiers stationed in the Middle East, aid and abet the reintegration of military personnel into civilian life within their borders, are anti-illegal immigration, are anti-gun control, possess Christian views, are against high taxes, and are opposed to the overreaching power of the federal government.

And unlike one discussion I got into yesterday, I won’t feel any better if the DHS did a report on “Leftwing Extremism”. I can read about that every damn day. Just one example:

Faculty and staff at ASU have taken a lot of heat over this issue. Laurie Chassin co-chairs the ASU Honorary Degree Committee along with Christine Wilkinson, but she is on sabbatical this year and is not involved in this year’s evaluations. According to a source within the administration, she reportedly received death threats after this story hit national news on Thursday. An ASU spokesperson said they started receiving hate-email within minutes after the story was published on Huffington Post. Crow’s office was barraged with so many calls that many went straight to voice mail.

Lovely people they have over at the HuffPo. I wonder how they’d take getting classified as a “terrorist supporting news agency” like Al-Jazeera? And yet, as vindictive as I want to be, I know it won’t help things if they did get classified as such.

It is just that it is only the middle of April and since just the beginning of this year I’ve been called a likely terrorist by two government agencies because of my politics, during which another government agency has had the audacity to change the term “terrorist acts” to “man-made disaters”.

And then they wonder why we’re a bit ruffled.
