Interesting indeed… I am somewhat concerned about their stress on “states’ rights”, not because they are stressing it, but rather because of how that phrase will be perceived. Unfortunately, that is one of those emotionally-charged phrases which will forever be remembered for a few very, very bad things, and not for what it was originally intended to be.

Now, when it comes to reducing the size, scope, power, and reach of the federal government, I am all about that, but the argument could be phrased differently.

Not sure I like their support of the existance of “hate crimes” – assault is assault, murder is murder, and throwing nonsense like that into the mix is only a step or two away from things we really do not want.

Love getting rid of affirmative action (but, then, I am still bitter from my college-scholarship-searching days).

Dunno… I worry about the viability and survivability, but that is the case for all third parties. Now is the ideal time to be launching something that aims towards returning America to what it was, but I fear that all of the people looking for that kind of thing will be fracturing into too many other groups. These Whigs are going to have to get some seriously motviational folks to represent them, or it is going to all be for naught.

Very little about taxes. Example; being a resident of NH, I have a huge problem with being taxed at the same rate as a New Yorker, and having my State get MUCH less fed cash as a result. Just writing that sentence makes the whole scheme feel wrong.

Abolish the IRS, institute a flat tax of any sort that pays the fed to do for the citizens that which they cannot do for themselves and nothing more.

Return to the States and the People the power and sovereignty that has been usurped by the federal government, that itself was allowed power by the States and the People, respectively. All other issues such as gay rights and abortion can then be decided by the people, as it was intended.

You may call this party anything you wish, but anything short of that will not get my support or sanction.
