Well that sucked

No, no, no. Not rangeday with Carnaby Fudge. That went well. I was able to get the .22-250 re-zeroed and reconfirmed the zero on the .444. And I got to do so with a couple of guys who can shoot rather well. February will see another rangeday with them.

Also, there’ll be a big plug tomorrow for somethings I saw at the range yesterday and am putting in my house.

No, what sucked is that Firefux (which is what I’m currently calling it) decided that Epic FAIL was the order of the day last Monday.

If you noticed a disturbance in the force here last week, that was it. Every single link I had saved went toodles. Not having any available time this week, I’ve spent that last four hours getting about 50% of them back.

XP’s “System Restore” was FAIL as well, as were the back-ups on the hard drive. Only complete removal and complete reinstall of Firefux worked at getting back on the intarwebz without IE (always save a copy of your favorite browser on your external drive).

Oh, if only I were brave enough to try a Linux based browser.

Thought I’d let you know that I’ve enjoyed dropping in on the blog for some time now, and I’d encourage you to try Xubuntu. I use it for most of my basic web surfing, but not sure how it’d work for blogging.
I am running Firefox on Xubuntu, but an older version. No problems, but I’m a real short bus type when it comes to ‘puters so there may be drawbacks of which I’m unaware.
Anyway, I like most of what I read here.
From the wilds of Butte County, CA, I thank you for the entertainment you’ve provided.

Thanks for the advice, IR. I’m still in the consideration phase and that helps.

I loaded up Ubuntu 8.10 on a laptop and a desktop with no problems, running stable and trouble free.

If you don’t need any Windows only functionality then some form of Ubuntu will do you just fine.
