RNS Quote of the Day: 01/23/09

Oh, if he only knew

However, there was one car that seemed to represent the Bush era even better. It is huge tank of a thing built by Chrysler and although sales have plunged in the past year, it sold quite well in Australia for some time. It has a grill like the mouth of a whale shark, seeming to suck everything before it.

The car’s body was disproportionately large like that of a bodybuilder on steroids, while what might symbolise the head was shrunken and sat on top like an afterthought.

It seemed to represent how the US projected itself to the world during this time — much brawn and little brain, don’t think just act.

OK, now re-read that again and picture the car in your head. You know the one he’s talking about, right?

Got that picture in your head?

Now expand this post and take a look at what President Obama drove while in Congress

Ayup.

It recently sold on eBay for $271,300.

My guess is that this guy is about as smart about cars as he is politics.

  1. Rivrdog says:

Yeah, poor bet the guy made. I wonder if anyone collected the Peanut Farmer’s cars?

    Who cares.

BTW, why did Daimler-Chrysler not market those pug-ugly cars to the police? I hear that they have good power and are fairly roomy.

The annual national demand for cop cars is well over 500,000, I hear.

My local LEOs have a half dozen of the Dodge versions, RD. Wit da Hemi and such fer chasin them darn speeders.

    Wow.

What kind of irony is just plain delicious.
