What is a little lie among friends?

The normally reasonable, and honest, Kevin Drum of the Washington Monthly’s Political Animal blog appears to have done a little picture editing on a graph that was put out by the Tax Policy Center.

Kevin Drum’s

Both graphs are click to enbiggen.

Now, you’ll notice that the bars for the “All” classification are oddly missing from Drum’s graph.

I have checked this post at the TaxProf blog, and also the pdf file found at the link Drum includes in his post, and both of them are intact.

So I am wondering, because a lie by omission is still a lie, and if Kevin Drum thinks so much about Mr. BigHopeyChangey’s tax plan, then why does he feel he needs to lie about it?

Granted, Drum’s post is pointed towards how Obama’s tax cuts will soak “The Rich”, but if he is unwilling to tell his readers that “All Taxes” will increase, isn’t that akin to bullshitting them?

I also grant that Obama prattles on and on about how “The Rich” need to be soaked, yet only hints at where he would set the line at who “The Rich” are so as to not scare his more affluent worshippers.

But why would anyone who thinks that this tax plan should be America’s tax plan go through all the difficulty of cutting out an entire section of it, thereby lying to the folks they’re distributing the information to, if they support it that much?

Just wonderin’.

I would like to point out that HopeyChangey’s plan will soak the top percentiles pretty damn well, with their after tax income dropping from 10+ percentage points in the first year.

Secondly, I would also like to point out that even after four years under the Obama Tax plan, after tax income increases less for ALL income levels than under the McCain plan.

And lastly, if you look at only the Obama plan, it does look exactly like Wealth Redistribution would look like if it were graphed, doesn’t it?

If they intend to “soak the rich” shouldn’t that list of “obscene profits” include sudden book royalties and Hollywood blockbuster weekends, among other things…?

But under Obama’s Chicago Socialism I’m sure the Gold Coast Apparatchiks will get upgraded to penthouse condos along the Magnificent Mile…
