This hero isn’t a fan of victim disarmament
A shooting suspect was badly injured after he knocked down a door to try to get to two people and was greeted by a man armed with an oscillating fan.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. at a six-unit apartment complex located at Northeast 94th Avenue near Glisan Street.
Officers were dispatched to the location after several callers reported that shots had been fired.
According to police, a man showed up at the apartment complex and began shooting and threatening people. He then went to an apartment where two people, a man and a woman, were hiding in their locked bedroom and broke down the door to get to them.
According to neighbor Kelly Featherly, the man in the bedroom was waiting with an oscillating fan and beat the shooting suspect down the stairs with it. At some point, the man was able to get hold of the shotgun and beat the man with it as well.
“He said ‘I beat him all the way down the stairs until he not move.’ He’s Asian and his English is kind of separated. And I was like ‘right on man.’ So good for him,” Featherly said.
He sure put a stop to that goblin’s cyclical violence.
The guy ain’t your poster child, Phil. He is an Asian gang member himself, and his girl had apparently just switched allegiance from the shotgun-wielder to the fan-wielder.
A standard, Mark One, Mod Zero gang dust-up, nothing more. Unique though, was all the damage the shotgun guy caused. He apparently shot the weapon dry (and had no reloads with him) before ever getting into the house, so all he had was the weapon as a club, so the fight was NOT shotgun-on-fan, it was club vs club, both improvised. If you saw the news video of the “hero”, you would see that he IS a gym rat, and had an impressive deck of pecs with which to wield his fan.
Prediction: the DA comes WAY off his current 3 counts of Attempt Murder with this one, since his star witnesses will have cred problems on the stand.
