Well, sewing isn’t listed as one of the Sacred Skills by Heinlein or Jeff Cooper, but IMO it should be. Definitely useful and necessary when SHTF, if only when one needs to suture self.

I myself can’t sew worth a darn (heh) but I do intend to rectify that eventually.

I particularly like the strategic use of paracord, which is useful for all kinds of things in a survival situation.
And sewing is pretty easy.
Due to class scheduling issues, I had to take clothing construction as an elective in high school, and I’m sure I could still run a sewing machine lo! these many years later.
Sewing well however, is very very difficult.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to see how well I constructed this pouch. As mentioned before, I was going to bring this for my trip, but wussed out to save weight. I probably wouldn’t have been able to shoot it anyway since most of that place is granite.
I should sign up for Boomershoot now if I want a spot, huh.

And we’re very possibly going to end up with six positions under the RNS tent — three for Phil, Dave and I and three for various bloggers. Depending on what Joe wants to do, one of them could very well be you if you step up sooner rather than later. Be sure to let Joe (and me) know if you’re seriously interested. (And you should be!)
And just to be clear, Joe usually opens the positions to the previous years’ Boomershooters for first crack, and only makes them available to the public a few days later. Last year they sold out REALLY quickly. So getting yourself on Joe’s radar as a gunblogger wannabe attendee, and as a Friend of RNS, will probably give you a big edge in securing a position as a newbie.

Oh, you will, young one… you will… little do you suspect the extent of the addiction that is Boomershoot — to which you’re about to be exposed! (exits, cackling)
Also, if you’re willing to sleep on a cot in the Great Lodge Room at Trib’s Place (and share one of the bathrooms) you could probably be accommodated at a reduced rate and still get Kenda’s gourmet breakfasts. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll call ’em on Monday.
Dave from Michigan’s son slept on the cot last year and pronounced it quite comfortable. (It’s the large Guide Gear model — firm, solidly built yet elegant in design. I bought two after Boomershoot 2007, I was that impressed.) It is, however, still a cot.
I don’t mind a cot at all. The floor will do just as nice if anything else. Bathroom sharing isn’t an issue either. Hook it up David!
