RNS Quote of the Day: 02/20/08

While I don’t agree with Gillespie’s words prior to these, I wholeheartedly agree with this sentence

I don’t believe in hell, but I sort of hope there is a place like it for a guy like Castro.
Nick Gillespe

Personally, I believe the man is dead and since they knew they wouldn’t be able to reanimate the corpse they’ve had walking around for the past 18 months or so, they are trying to soften the blow to their regime when the facts are eventually found out.

PS: CNN got exclusive coverage of Iraq from Saddam for talking nice about him and ignoring things going on around them, which makes me wonder what those currently at the wheel of Cuba have that CNN wants.

Please note Fidel did bring social reforms to Cuba – namely free education and universal health care, and racial integration. in addition to being criticized for oppressing human rights and freedom of speech.

Here’s a flash for YOU, Allison Flexner: If you think “reforms” such as “universal” health care, “free” (abuse of the word if I ever heard it) education and racial integration, which there always was in Cuba, save for the Planter class is worth one NANOSECOND of living under the yoke of a brutal dictator like Fidel, then you go right ahead and immigrate.

Ask the tens of thousands who died in various Central American nations where he exported his brutality to, or Central Africa, where hundreds of thousands died. No, wait, those legions can’t reply, Castro had them all killed. You’ll have to find out on your own.

I think that you’ll find, Allison, when you get there, that you are put to work in the fields, not in some glitzy newsroom, your “universal” health care will do all the abortions on you that you need to keep you in the fields 7 days a week after you get impregnated by your bosses, and that “free public Education” will be waiting for you to make you into an even better Communist than you already are.

Oh, wait, you don’t have the starch to immigrate and actually sample the hardscrabble life there, you just want to “visit” and get the VIP tour.

Personally, I hope many of you like Allison DO immigrate to Cuba, because then there are less of you here, so that means more of the dwindling freedom for me.

I tend to agree that it’s been a “year at Bernie’s”, plus I predicted that he’d die in 2007 and I really want to be right..
