They drove the fenders right off these cars

Normally, someone I’d call a “Rat Bastard” wouldn’t be considered worthy of my company.

I think I could bend that rule with these guys

More flatheadedness and six-cylinder mills

And a tri-powered Olds Rocket engine. Not too common these days.

But by far, my favorite two fenderless rides of the Hot Rod-A-Rama were this truck

Complete with hard hat intake

And this conglomeration of what looks to be an early version supercharger on top of a small block mill.

I was too wowed to remember to stop and ask questions.

Stop by tomorrow for a game with more of these pics.

I’m pretty sure I had a Rocket engine on my 1972 Oldsmobile 98. What does it mean that it’s “tri-powered?”

  2. Phil says:

Tri-Power is three single barrel carbs.

Like the other day on the duece that had a SixPack, which is three two barrels.

  3. Merle says:

That early supercharger looks like either a “Paxton” or a “McCullough” depending on the year it was made. They were used on Studebaker Hawks, among others.

The Pontiac and Chevy “Tri-Power engines in the mid fifties were all three “duces”(three two-barreled carburetors). Chrysler called their version a “six-pack”.
